In 2022, Immersed Technologies teamed up with Vietnamese automaker VinFast to train technicians on high voltage awareness and safety.
VinFast shipped 999 VF8 electric SUVs in late November, marking the automaker’s first U.S.-bound all-electric vehicle. VinFast global pre-orders for the VF8 and VF9 have topped 65,000, and U.S. customers will receive the first batch of EVs before the end of 2022.
Ahead of the U.S. delivery, Immersed Technologies created a safety awareness training curriculum for technicians and other VinFast personnel. A self-paced e-learning course taught participants about high-voltage hazards and provided information on preventing and responding to accidents. In addition, the course explained the ratings and categories of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), showed how to safely de-energize the high-voltage system, and provided the information participants need to stay safe in a high-voltage environment.
On Dec. 2, Immersed Technologies conducted an instructor-led High Voltage Awareness for Technicians course for VinFast technicians. The in-person training led participants through hands-on exercises in donning the proper PPE, inspecting PPE items for damage, setting up safety barriers, and performing safety procedures on an electric vehicle.
Immersed Technologies also produced emergency response guides for the VinFast VF8 and VF9. These guides were created in accordance with ISO 17840 and provide critical information to trained first and second responders. The response guides describe how to identify high-voltage components and safely disable and handle the vehicle during an emergency.
